Windows XP - Click the Start button > Control Panel > Double-click the System icon > Click Hardware tab > Device Manager > click plus sign next to the Display adapters. Your current video card should be listed there. Compare your video card with the recommended video cards from Second Life to determine whether you will need to upgrade your video card.
Windows Vista - Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel , clicking Appearance and Personalization , clicking Personalization , and then clicking Display Settings. This is where you can find out what kind of video card and monitor your computer has.

5. What if my avatar name does not work for login?
It is difficult to determine why your avatar name is not working. The best recommendation would be to double check to make sure you have followed all of the instructions for joining SL. If you are confident that you have followed all of the available instructions, it is recommended that you start the process over as if you never joined. Make sure that you chose the first name to be your Kaplan email first name. For example: sgilmore@kaplan.edu would choose sgilmore as the first name in Second Life.

6. How do I get onto the Kaplan College of Arts and Sciences Island?
* Our island is a private island and therefore you must be invited to join.
* First: Sign-up for a Second Life account
* Second: Log into Second Life to confirm that your avatar name and password actually work.
* Third: If you singed up for one of the Kaplan Island tours, log into Second Life 30 minutes prior to the tour.
* Fourth: Call the conference number given in the tour invitation email.
* Fifth: A member of the Kaplan Island team will assist you with arriving to our private island safely.
