Our Mission

The Kaplan.University College of Arts and Sciences private island in Second Life provides students and faculty the opportunity to explore the Second Life potential and interact on an entirely new dimension. Kaplan Arts and Sciences Second Life members will have the opportunity to interact in social and academic contexts, attend lectures and seminars and explore the island’s continuing innovations. Continued development of the College of Arts and Sciences private island will further tap into Second Life's potential including simulations and historical recreations, guest speakers, lecturers and videos, lab experiences, faculty meeting opportunities, collaborative learning experiences as well as recreational, cultural and social activities, to name a few.

Getting Your Computer Ready
As with any new software, your computer must be ready to handle it. Click this link for a list of requirements to run Second Life.

Getting ready for a Kaplan Arts and Sciences Island tour

1. Join Second Life - Click this link to access step-by-step instructions for joining Second Life.
2. Double-click the Second Life icon on your computer's desktop.
3. Enter your Second Life First and Last name and password, then click "Connect".
4. 30 Minutes prior to the scheduled tour, telephone in using the conference call number provided in the tour invitation email.
5. A member of the Kaplan Island team will assist you in arriving on the island.
